The moment this page is for
You are self-employed in Missouri, nobody hands you a benefits packet, and the 2026 renewal landed with less help attached than last year. Springfield, Joplin, Cape Girardeau: the question in each is the same one. Not “how does health insurance work.” You know how it works. The question is whether the plan in front of you is still the right one now that the price moved, and what else you may qualify for.
The part most people find out late
Two plans can read almost identically on the summary page and behave nothing alike the first time somebody needs a surgeon. The premium is the number that gets compared; the network and what the plan actually pays toward a procedure are the numbers that matter when it is used. That is not something to work out from a webpage. It is a ten-minute conversation with someone who reads these for a living.
Who to talk to
Ryan Michalek at Michalek Health Solutions is the licensed advisor we refer Missouri readers to. NPN 21043091, NABIP member #525458, both public and both worth looking up before you talk to anyone about coverage, us included.
He will also tell you when the answer is to stay put. That happens often enough to be worth saying out loud.
Build note Structural draft, pending Esraa’s content QA and Mo’s compliance sign-off before this counts as publishable copy. See build brief B7.
